"This filter is awesome! I keep it in our family emergency kit and recently took it on a three-day backpacking trip. With storms and power outages being unpredictable, it's reassuring to have a lightweight backup water filtration option that doesn't need batteries or pumping. Easy to carry and worth having on hand."

Product description

When the power goes out, the water can stop too.

An ice storm. A blown transformer. A boil-water notice. If your home runs on a well pump or your town loses pressure, the tap goes dry or the water is no longer safe to drink. Bottled water runs out in a day or two, and the store shelves empty fast.

The Readywell Gravity Water Filter keeps your family supplied, with no power at all.

Fill the bag. Hang it on a door, a shelf or a garage hook. Gravity pulls the water through the filter and into your jug or pitcher. No pumping. No batteries. No electricity.

How it works

  1. Fill the 1-gallon bag with tap, rain or melted snow water.
  2. Hang it anywhere above your container.
  3. Filter: clean water flows out of the filter while you take care of everything else.

Refill it as often as your family needs, all day long.

FAQ

How long does it take to set up?

About a minute. Fill, hang and let it flow.

What water can I use?

Tap water, rain water or melted snow. Let heavy dirt settle at the bottom of the bucket first for the best flow.

How do I clean the filter?

Use the included syringe to push clean water back through the filter (backwash). This keeps the flow strong.

Where should I store it?

Rolled up in a kitchen drawer, a closet or your car’s glove box, so it’s ready before the next storm.

How It Works

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Readywell filter work?

It runs on gravity. Fill the 1-gallon bag, hang it on a door, a shelf or a hook, and open the clamp. Water flows down through the filter into your jug or pitcher. Nothing to charge, pump or plug in.

What water can I use at home during an outage?

Fresh water you can collect around the house: water left in your pipes or water heater, rain barrel water, or melted snow. For the best flow, let heavy dirt settle at the bottom of the bucket first.

Avoid saltwater and floodwater, which can carry fuel or chemicals.

Does it need power, batteries or chemicals?

No. It works with gravity only. That is why it keeps working when the power grid goes down.

How much water does my family need?

Emergency planning guides recommend at least one gallon of water per person per day. Each fill gives you one gallon, and you can refill the bag as often as you need.

For a larger family, the Family Water Kit (3 filters) lets you run several bags at once.

How do I clean and maintain it?

When the flow slows down, use the included syringe to push clean water back through the filter (backwash). Let every part air-dry completely before you roll it up and store it.

Can I keep it in my car or garage in winter? Can it freeze?

Do not let the filter freeze while it is wet: ice can damage it. Dry it completely before storing it anywhere that gets below freezing, like a car or an unheated garage.

During a winter storm, keep the filter inside the house when you are not using it.
